Matters arising
Any concerns discussed re the election of members to the BOM should be communicated to the BOM.
Financial Report
The treasurer was not present, so a financial report was not available. An invoice was received for €240 for driving lessons (Careers Fair prize).
Fundraising/expenditure
- Permits: No information as yet.
- A voucher for Kinetic Fitness was donated to the parents’ council for fundraising and will be discussed at the next meeting.
- Non-Uniform Day: Friday 13th March TBC.
Parents Council Constitution
This will be discussed at the next meeting. It was felt that breakout meeting would not be necessary and that the constitution can be discussed as part of regular meetings
Parents Council training
Enquiries will be made with the NPC to see if they can provide training to a group rather than an individual.
Parents Council participation
Members of the parents’ council who wish to speak at meetings (e.g. 1st year introductory meeting, or other year meetings), about the role of the parents’ council etc, would be supported.
Communication to parents
Request for communication from the school directly to parents rather than via children was again raised with particular reference to Transition Years.
The TY co-ordinator likes to increase student responsibility in this way. She has been asked to relay more information to parents directly.
AOB
A parent of a TY student queried compulsory participation in JP Award/Gaisce.
The next meeting is scheduled for February 3rd.
