6th Feb 2026

Well done to all the brilliant athletes who competed at the South East Leinster Schools Cross Country Championships in Carlow. The Minor team had a fantastic run, with Shannon Wright (8th) and Mary Kate Kelly (10th) qualifying for the Leinster Championships.

The Junior team displayed outstanding strength and teamwork, winning the Junior Team Title. The team has qualified for the Leinster Championships, with excellent performances from Aisling O’Grady (6th), Mia Wright (9th), Emily Whelan (14th), Saoirse Drumm, Caitlin Griffith, Seoige Kelly, Sarah Petitt, Matilda Norval, Alannah O’Connor, Ruby Cullen, Joanne Swarlc, August Kairyte, and Ame Ayanda Mokoyalo.

Well done to the Senior team, who narrowly missed out on a team medal. Congratulations to Maria Coone (5th) and Lucy McCormack (15th), who both qualified for the Leinster Championships.

Well done to all our teams competing across Wexford and Waterford over the long weekend. On Saturday, our novice teams placed first and sixth, while our open team came third at Wexford Equestrian, hosted by Bridgetown College. On Monday, our open team’s trip to Waterford proved worthwhile as they took home the red rosette and first place. Congratulations also to the riders who won and placed in their individual classes. Well done to all involved.

Thanks to everyone who came along to make St. Brigid’s Crosses last Friday. And a big thank you to Ms. C. Culleton and Ms. Davey for showing students have to make the crosses! Happy St. Brigid’s Day to the Loreto community!

On 6 February we recognise Period Awareness Day. Show your support by wearing a red or pink accessory and helping us promote open, informed conversations about periods. Face painting will take place in the GP in the morning.

A great day out in Freiburg as part of our German exchange trip. We explored the markets, spent time in the Cathedral, hiked up to the Schlossberg viewing point, and enjoyed some traditional Wurst.

We received a wonderful welcome at St. Ursula’s this morning as part of our German exchange. There is a long-standing tradition between our schools, and it always feels like coming back to friends.

A big well done to our current fifth-year students, Ciara Whelan (St. Brigid’s Blackwater) & Lucy McCormack (Shelmalier), who have both been selected to represent the Wexford Minor Ladies’ Footballers for 2026.

Both girls have given great commitment and dedication to Ladies’ Football in Loreto over the past number of years, and it is brilliant to see them featuring at inter-county level!
