Cycle Against Suicide Award

The school was delighted to receive its third Cycle Against Suicide award recently. This award acknowledged the hard work of the Headstrong committee throughout 2021/22. The group, coordinated by Ms. Kelly and Ms. Foley, led a number of initiatives aimed at helping to break down the stigma around mental illness.

Sports Updates

Our U-16 and senior footballers got their campaigns up and running this week.

The U-16 squad came up against a very strong Scoil Críost Rí team from Portlaoise and lost out on a narrow score line, 4-8 to 2-9. Despite the defeat, there were several strong performances and plenty of positives for the next match.

Our senior footballers also made the trip Carlow to play Portlaoise opposition, again falling to a narrow defeat.

At home, our junior camogie team welcomed the Glynn-Barntown U-16 squad to Loreto for a practice match as they continue their preparations for the Leinster championship.

In golf, Ailbhe Cullinane, Niamh Bates, Cara Corkery and Roisin Alouf represented the school in Kileen Castle on Wednesday, 5 October. In challenging conditions, the girls did extremely well and can take great credit from their performances.

As always, thanks to all coaches for preparing each team.
