RTE Youth Assembly – report by Chloe Fortune (4.5)

On Friday, 15 November I will be one of the delegates representing Wexford in the Dáil Chamber for the RTÉ youth assembly. This is the first ever youth assembly and its aims are to try and receive some action ideas on the climate emergency. I have been working hard preparing for the day and I have to arrive at Leinster House at 07:00 on Friday. The other delegates and I will be brought into the Dáil Chamber with the Ceann Comhairle where we will present our proposals. These will be live on RTÉ throughout the day. At 17.00 we will then have to return to the RTÉ building for a reception and hopefully celebrate another step to a green Ireland.

Turas Tonnmharcaíochta go Trá Mhór – le Ciara Kavanagh, Chloe Fortune agus Emma Carr (daltaí ón Idirbhliain)

D’fhágamar Meánscoil Loreto ag a h-ocht a chlog maidin Dé Máirt, an 24ú Méan Fomhair. Chuaigh an bhliain iomlán in éineacht le Mr. Buckley, Mr. Blake, Mr. Crowdle, Ms. Kennedy, Ms. de Róiste agus Ms. Byrne. Bhí an-spraoi againn ar an mbus ag éisteacht le ceol agus ag labhairt lena chéile.

Shroicheamar Trá Mhór timpeall a 10 a chlog. Scar na múinteoirí an bhliain i ndá leath. Chuaigh ár ngrúpa ar siúlóid ar an trá ar dtús. Bhí beagán báistí i rith an lae ach ní raibh sé ró-dhona. D’fhoghlaimíomar a lán rudaí suimiúla ón bhfear a bhí in éineacht linn ar an siúlóid. Tar éis na siúlóide bhuaileamar leis an gcuid eile den ghrúpa ar feadh lóin.

Tar éis am lóin d’aistríomar timpeall agus chuaigh ár ngrúpa ag tonnmharcaíocht agus ag tonnmharcaíocht choirp. Ach ar an drochuair thosaigh na tonnta ag éirí an-mhór agus dáinséireach! Bhí orainn stopadh ag tonnmharcaíocht agus chuamar ag imirt cluichí san uisce ina ionad. Bhí lá iontach fós againn agus beidh cuimhní iontacha ag gach duine ón lá a chuamar go dtí Trá Mhór.
