Attendance: Mr. Lyons (Chairperson), Ms. Browne, Mr. Gaynor, Ms. Harpur, Ms. Mooney, Mr. Gunning and Mr. Carty.
As Secretary to the Board, Mr. Mc Ginnity also attended.
Mr. Lyons opened with a prayer.
Minutes:
The minutes of the last meeting (8 January 2026) were approved following the proposal of Ms. Harpur, seconded by Mr. Carty.
Correspondence:
The publication of a number of DEY Circulars and JMB Bulletins was noted.
Health and Safety:
Mr. Mc Ginnity updated members on the recent visit of Mr. Derek Madden, Health and Safety Manager.
Building Updates:
Mr. Mc Ginnity informed those present that an official from the DEY will visit the school to look at the potential location of SET classes.
The Board was informed that a new Facilities Manager had been appointed to the school.
Finance Report:
An Income/Expenditure report covering the period since the start of the school year was considered.
The OLCS report was presented.
Child Protection:
Mr. Mc Ginnity presented the Board with a Child Protection Oversight Report covering the period since the last meeting on 8 January 2026. A copy of the report is attached to the minutes.
The Board completed the annual review of the procedures, in line with the prescribed checklist.
Anti-Bullying:
Mr. Mc Ginnity presented and discussed the Bí Cinéalta report.
School Planning/Teaching and Learning:
Applications for leave for the 2026/27 school year were considered by the Board.
The Board welcomed the draft SEN inspection report, due to be published online in the coming days.
Following some minor adjustments, the Board approved the Bereavement, Social Media, PME, SNA Deployment and RE policies, subject to any other feedback being received from the Parents’ Council.
An update in relation to admissions for 2026/27 was provided to those present.
Amendments to the Admissions Policy were discussed by the Board.
Leadership and Management:
An update was provided.
Principal’s Report:
Mr. Mc Ginnity mentioned the following in his report:
- Walking Wednesdays
- School of Sanctuary visit to St. Mary’s, New Ross
- TY events including a Circus Workshop, Self-Defence, First Aid, Marine Spatial Planning and Barista training
- Rotary Interact Club activities
- Past Pupil Amy Hanton awarded an Entrance Award in Trinity College
- The completion of Subject Choice Talks for 1st and TY parents
- The hosting of Subject Choice Information sessions and the annual Subject Choice Fair for students
- Table Quiz in aid of Mellon Trip, held on 30 January
- Mary Ward Week, celebrated between 19 and 23 January
- The safe return of senior French students from a trip to Paris
- Sport updates, in relation to team and individual competitions, were provided to those present
- The making of St Brigid’s Day crosses.
- German Exchange – ongoing
- Mock exams – ongoing
- Upcoming events were mentioned, including an Oide staff training day on Friday, 13 February 2026
Next Meeting:
The date of the next meeting is Monday, 20 April 2026.
