Agreed Report of Board of Management Meeting

Attendance: Mr. Lyons (Chairperson), Ms. Browne, Mr. Gaynor, Ms. Harpur, Ms. Mooney, Mr. Gunning and Mr Carty. 

As Secretary to the Board, Mr. Mc Ginnity also attended.

Mr. Lyons opened with a prayer.

Minutes:

The minutes of the last meeting (25 November 2025) were approved following the proposal of Mr. Carty, seconded by Mr. Lyons.

Correspondence:

Requests for leave were considered by the Board.

The publication of JMB Bulletin 23 was noted.

Health and Safety:

Mr. Mc Ginnity updated members on health and safety matters.  

Building Updates:

An update on a few current matters was provided to those present.

Finance Report:

With work on the accounts ongoing, there was no income and expenditure report presented at this meeting.

The OLCS report was presented.

Child Protection:

Mr. Mc Ginnity presented the Board with a Child Protection Oversight Report covering the period since the last meeting on 25 November 2025. A copy of the report is attached to the minutes.

Anti-Bullying:

Mr. Mc Ginnity presented and discussed the Bí Cinéalta report.

School Planning/Teaching and Learning:

An update in relation to the admissions process for September 2026 was provided.

The Board was informed that planning for 2026/27 had commenced with the distribution of the annual staff survey. It was noted that subject choice talks would take place in the coming weeks.

School Tours/Trips:

Members were updated on school tours.

Suspensions:

The Board was informed of two suspensions.

Leadership and Management:

Appointments of teaching staff to AP 2 positions were ratified by the Board.

Principal’s Report:

Mr. Mc Ginnity mentioned the following in his report:

  • An update on team and individual sports was provided
  • The completion of the SEN Inspection with a draft report awaited
  • Anti – Bullying Week, 10 – 14 November
  • Completion of November exams and issuing of reports
  • Completion of the Le Cheile programme (TY)
  • Numeracy Week involving puzzles, displays and a TY quiz
  • Meitheal Awards Ceremony in Riverside Park Hotel
  • 5th Year History Trip to library
  • 6th Year Talk from UCC
  • LCA 1 and 2 trip to Dublin
  • 6th Year Wellbeing Day held on 5 December
  • 3rd and 5th Year Talk from Michelle O’Gorman
  • The completion of a hugely successful musical (Footloose) in the Opera House in early December
  • The holding of our traditional Christmas events including the Christmas Market, Carol Service, 6th Year Show for St. Vincent De Paul and Mr. Murphy’s Big Quiz
  • TY events – Christmas Decorations, Carol-singing and ice-skating
  • Upcoming events were mentioned including Subject Choice Talks, 1st Year Parent/Teacher meeting and Mock Examinations.

The date of the next meeting is Monday, 9 February 2026.
