Happy New Year

In our first update of the year, I take this opportunity to wish all Loreto families well for 2023.

Lunchtime Activities

Over the past week, we have been promoting a wide range of activities for students to experience at lunchtime. From sports to debating, there is something for everyone. We encourage all students to involve themselves in something outside of the classroom setting. These activities contribute greatly to the wellbeing of every student. I thank the staff who continue to oversee these activities in their own time. Great credit is also due to Ms. Kennedy, Ms. Wilson and their team of TY students who have helped create and promote each event.

Sports Updates

Hard luck to our senior camogie team who lost out to Presentation, Kilkenny on a score line of 4-6 to 1-6 on 6 January. The squad trained over the Christmas period to prepare for this Leinster Championship game and can consider themselves unlucky to exit at this stage. Thanks to their coaches for all their work this year – Mr. Crowdle, Ms. Kelly and Mr. Goff.

The Intermediate – A hockey team, under the guidance of Ms. Kennedy and Ms. Mullen, continued their impressive form with a 4 – 1 win over Kilkenny College. Emma O’ Leary and Hazel Hickey contributed two goals each in a superb team performance.

Meitheal

The Meitheal leaders received their certificates on Thursday, 12 January. At an event in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, their role in mentoring and guiding the 1st year students was recognised. Thanks to all Meitheal leaders for the work they do and to Ms. Kinsella for accompanying the group.
