Literacy Committee – report by Ms. Foley

Two student members of our “Wellread Literacy Committee” have compiled a comprehensive list of books that they would recommend for their peer group throughout the school.

A variety of genres and levels of difficulty of text are represented in the reviews to suit different tastes and levels of literacy.

We hope that you find this list helpful when choosing a book to include in your daughter’s Christmas present this festive season.

Parents of 5th year students received a hardcopy of this list at their recent parent-teacher meeting.  For all other year groups, please click here to access this useful list.

Sincere thanks to Heidi Rowlands and Molly Holden (5th year) for all their hard work in creating the lists and to Kate Whelan, Grace Corrigan and Cait Whitmore for distributing the booklets to parents at the parent-teacher meeting.

Christmas Market

On Saturday, 10 December Loreto hosted its first ever Christmas Market. Students from Presentation, St Peter’s College and Selskar College joined our TY mini company students in selling their products. The event attracted a large gathering, and the atmosphere was brilliant. We commend the students for their creativity and enterprise. A special word of thanks to the Mini – Company teachers, Mr. Murphy, Ms. Skelton, Ms. Smyth and the overall coordinating team of Ms. Zimmermann and Mr. Broderick.
