Parents’ Association Annual General Meeting (AGM)

With the gradual easing of Covid-19 measures, the AGM of the Loreto Parents’ Association will be held in the Sports Hall on Monday, 20 September beginning at 18.30.

Attendance will be limited to 30 parents, all of whom must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

It will be necessary for those attending to pre-register. Mr. McGinnity (Deputy Principal) will provide a link for registration next week by means of text message to all parents.

The agenda for the meeting will be as follows:

  1. Welcome
  2. Minutes from previous AGM
  3. Matters arising.
  4. Chairperson’s Report
  5. Treasurer’s Report
  6. Deputy Principal’s Report
  7. Election of Officers
  8. AOB
  9. Date for next meeting

Other meetings for parents

More than 90 parents attended an Information Meeting on Transition Year that was held on Teams on Thursday, 8 September. A full outline of the year was presented by Ms. Zimmermann (Co-ordinator) and Mr. O’ Shea. Students were delighted to learn of the proposed tour to Spain next Easter, details of which were announced at the meeting.

It is our strong hope that we will be able to hold our Autumn General Meeting of Parents in the school in the coming weeks. Provisionally scheduled for Monday, 18 October, the meeting may move to a date after 22 October which is the day on which virtually all remaining Covid-19 restrictions are to be lifted. We will keep you informed on this important event.

School News

Base class groups are electing prefects this week.

Any students who are interested in joining the Green School Committee this year are invited to email Ms. Culleton (annaculleton@loretowexford.com) before next Monday to register their interest.

The viewing of Leaving Certificate scripts will take place in the school on Saturday, 11 September. The organising teacher is Mr. Usher.

Covid-19 reminders

Students must not come to school if feeling in any way unwell.

The Board of Management strongly encourages all students to avail of the Covid-19 vaccines that are now freely available. Vaccines are the best way of protecting the 950 people who work in our school on a daily basis.

We will be conducting a survey in the school next week to ascertain the level of vaccine uptake by our students. The survey will be optional and anonymous – no student will be identified. Results will be reported to the school community within about 10 days.

Debating and Public Speaking

Students with an interest in debating and public speaking, in both English and Irish, are invited to contact Mr. Cornejo for further details.
