School Show – Calamity Jane

The students and staff in Loreto Secondary School and St. Peter’s College, Wexford are delighted to bring their production of “Calamity Jane” to the magnificent stage of the National Opera House. This will be the twelfth joint production between the two schools since 2002.

The 80 students in the cast have been rehearsing since early September under the direction of the vastly experienced production team of Alan Corcoran, Fintan Cleary, Fintan Kavanagh and Sorcha O’Connor. They look forward to the full support of both school communities and Wexford’s theatre-going population as they portray life in the wild-west outpost of Deadwood City in 1876.

The show will be staged from Tuesday, 7 to Thursday, 9 December beginning at 19.30. Tickets (€20 adults, €10 students and OAPs) are now on sale online from the National Opera House. They are selling fast so please book now to avoid disappointment.

Sleep Out in support of Focus Ireland

80 students from Transition Year, supervised by teachers, will sleep outdoors on the school grounds on the evening of Friday, 5 November in support of Focus Ireland’s homelessness campaign.

We appreciate the efforts being made by students and staff to highlight this issue which remains a blight on our society.

Guidance section on school website

The attention of the school community is drawn to the Guidance section of the school website which contains much useful information as well as links to various talks by experts in areas of particular relevance e.g. mental health, connectedness, self-harm.

Please do not hesitate to contact the school’s Guidance teachers – Ms. Kelly, Ms. Foley and Mr. O’ Sullivan – should you require any further information.

Junior Cycle Profiles of Achievement

This week, the school presented a Profile of Achievement to all Transition Year students who completed their junior cycle programme last May.

Each document contains details of subject assessments, results of completed CBAs and details of other areas of learning.

We thank Ms. M. Jordan and Mr. McGinnity for their sterling work in preparing these documents which we hope will now be proudly retained by all students.

Sincere congratulations to all!
