Launch of new Loreto App

We were delighted this week to launch our new Loreto App.

The APP can be downloaded from the APP Store or the Google Play Store. Simply type in “Loreto Secondary School Wexford”, search and then install.

This will be a great way for the full school community to stay in touch with our latest news, letters to families, photo gallery and much more.

I hope you get good use from the App. Remember to email me at principal@loretowexford.com with any school news, photos or articles for publication.

Inclusion Committee – report by Ms. M. Jordan

Loreto Wexford’s

Inclusion Committee

‘Let your voice be heard’

Normally around this time of year plans are well underway for our annual Multicultural Week.

Multicultural Week has been postponed to February (week beginning Monday 22nd) in the hope that we can celebrate in our usual colourful and vibrant fashion. In the meantime, we are excited to announce the creation of Loreto’s Inclusion Committee.

Inclusion is about embracing all people regardless of differences. It is about giving equal opportunities and getting rid of discrimination. Inclusion affects all aspects of our lives.

The aim of this Inclusion Committee is to build towards a broader sense of inclusion in our school community through discussion, awareness raising and whole school events such as Multicultural Week and Inclusion Week.

If you are interested in inclusion and would enjoy a forum to express your feelings and opinions in order to effect positive change, please email michellejordan@loretowexford.com by Monday 9th November.

Presentation of Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement (JCPA) certificates

The school will be very happy to present JCPA certificates to all current TY students on Friday, 6 November in respect of their Junior Cycle that concluded last June.

Although the final written examinations were cancelled due to the Covid-19 measures, the school has now put together a certificate that takes account of students’ academic grades awarded by teachers last May, their completed CBAs and also any other areas of learning in which they were involved through their three junior cycle years.

It is hoped that students will be proud of these certificates and will cherish them as a record of the successful completion of their Junior Cycle education in Loreto, Wexford.

We wish to thank Mr. McGinnity and Ms. M. Jordan for the considerable amount of work that they put in to compile these certificates.

Other School News in brief

  • Weather permitting, all TY students will take to Forth Mountain next week on their Irish/PE trip
  • First Aid courses continue for TY students each Thursday in the school
  • Offers of places in 1st year, September 2021 will be issued next week
  • The school’s Health and Safety Manager, Derek Madden, will visit next week and, weather permitting, will oversee a full fire drill
