Senior Soccer – report by Nicole Lageu

On Tuesday, 28th November, our senior soccer team played a very challenging match against a very strong Presentation, Wexford side.

As the first half began, we witnessed a very strong start from both sides. Presentation’s Aisling Roche scored an early goal, giving them a quick lead. There was a close call for their keeper as Polly Redmond missed an opportunity.

A corner kick from Presentation resulted in an almighty save from Caoimhe Whelan, supported by fantastic defending from Alexa Clancy and Aoife McEldowney.

The first half ended with the score at 0-1.

Loreto began the second half strongly with a free kick that led to an excellent goal from Polly Redmond, bringing the score to 1-1. Loreto had another close shot from Molly O’Shea that unfortunately went wide. Presentation pulled ahead again with a stunning goal from Katie Law, but Loreto kept fighting. There were numerous chances for Loreto, but the Presentation keeper made some unbelievable saves. Loreto didn’t give up, but in the last second, a strike from Presentation’s Niamh White led to Loreto conceding a third goal.

It was an entertaining match, to say the least, with a disappointing result for our Loreto senior team, but we wish them all the best of luck in upcoming matches. The final score was 1-3 to the Presentation.
