Athletics Success

Congratulations to all students who represented the school over in the South Leinster Schools Athletics recently in Carlow. Maria Coone won the 2000m Inter walk, Lea Bolger won the Junior Hammer and was second in the 75m Hurdles and Cara Kelly was third in the Inter 300m Hurdles. Laragh Walsh was fifth in the Minor 1100m. Our Minor relay team were fourth in the final with Madison Donovan, Kiera Molony, Laragh Walsh and Robyn Delaney making up the squad.

On the second day, Cara Kelly won the Inter 300m, Maria Coone won the Inter 3000m and Aoife Walsh was 3rd in the Inter 800m. We congratulate all participants and thank Ms. Flynn and Ms. Carroll for accompanying them.

Soccer in Loreto

History was made on Tuesday, 9 May when the first ever soccer team to represent Loreto took to the field. Guided by Mr. Usher, Mr. Lyons and Ms. Sweetman, the team of first years put in superb performances to beat 3 fellow Loreto schools to make the final where they lost out on a 2-0 scoreline to Loreto, Foxrock. Congratulations to all members of the squad on a successful debut!

Parents’ Council

The final meeting of the Parents’ Council for the 2022/23 school year took place on Monday, 8 May. We thank all members for their regular attendance, support and dedication to the school. A summary of their meetings can be found here. Recently, the group kindly sponsored a first aid training session with all 1st years. This was delivered by staff from the Order of Malta and is a great asset to all students.

Japanese Speeches

Congratulations to Sreelakshmy Bino and  Cait Whitmore on their winning performances in the Japanese Speech Contest of Ireland. Cait won the 5th year Japanese Language Recognition Award and Sreelakshmy won the 6th year Special Mention Award.

School Tours

This week marked the conclusion of our trips to Emerald Park (formerly Tayto Park). All 1st, 2nd and 3rd years students have immensely enjoyed their individual excursions. We thank them for their excellent behaviour, effort and application to their studies over the course of the year.
