Financial Report

There were banking fees of €15 incurred in Nov 25 and outgoings of €250 in Nov 25 for voucher for driving lessons for Careers night.

A concert in Min Ryan on Sat May 30th and Mon June 1st could be a possible source of fundraising re the use of the Loreto car park.

Parents Council training

It was agreed that we would join as members of the National Parents’ Council and pay for the in-person training session (€100 & €50). An invitation should be sent to all parents to attend.

Parents Council participation

Suggestions were made to improve poor participation in the parents’ council. It was suggested that the agenda for meetings should be sent to all parents and 1st year parents receive information regarding parents’ council together with a form asking if they wished to be informed regarding parents’ council activities.

Previous suggestions regarding the parents’ council speaking at meetings with year groups was raised. These meetings are usually divided into 1st years, 2nd & 5th years, and exam years.

Break Out meetings

Some felt these were not required whilst others felt they could be useful when time is short.

Timing of Communications

It was requested that communication be limited to between 8am and 6pm and the name and purpose of the message be included.

Pedestrian Crossing/Bus Shelters

A safety issue regarding moving the Pedestrian Crossing outside the school to the other side of the roundabout was raised. Also that the area is poorly lit and there aren’t enough bus shelters at the bus stops. A representation will be made to the County Council.

School Policies

Updated draft Social Media, Bereavement and Religious Education policy were circulated and will be discussed at the next meeting.

Parents Council Constitution

This was also circulated and will be discussed at the next meeting. A parent pointed out that the objectives need to be meaningful and a structure in place as to how they can be achieved.

AOB

Transition Year Interviews are scheduled for 21st Mar. Volunteers needed to help with the interviews. It will be clarified if the PC are also needed to help with teas/coffees etc

In relation to a question previously raised re JP II and Gaisce awards, it was clarified that participation in these is not compulsory but students who had put the work in for JPII had a lot of the work done for Gaisce and were therefore encouraged to do both.

The next meeting is scheduled for March 2nd.
