Inclusion Committee
We were delighted to welcome 22 students and two staff members to our first meeting this year.
Secretary:
- Roisin Reynolds was elected as secretary to the committee for the 2025-26 academic year and will be responsible for taking the minutes at each meeting.
Th Inclusion Committee got off to a busy start this term. We had many events to plan, for example The School of Sanctuary Awards Ceremony, Open Night, Stand Up Week and Diverse Voices to name a few.
School of Sanctuary Awards Ceremony 19th September:
‘All are welcome, all belong!’
- We were delighted to receive an invitation to attend the School of Sanctuary Awards Ceremony at Wexford County Council on Friday 19th September.
- Six schools across Wexford and Wicklow were celebrated as they joined us in being recognised as Champion Schools of Sanctuary.
- It was an inspirational event where students shared their experiences through speech, poetry, song and music.
- Congratulations to St Mary’s Secondary School, New Ross, Bridgetown College, St. Cronan’s NS, Bray, St. Mary’s College, Arklow, New Ross Educate Together and Colaiste Bride, Enniscorthy on receiving this prestigious award

Open Night 25th September:
- The Welcome Committee was re-established to provide tours of the school in different languages to parents and children on the Open Night. These volunteers will also be available to new students arriving at the school during the school year.
- If you would like to join the Welcome Committee, please email michellejordan@loretowexford.com
- This year, The Inclusion Committee had a stand at the Clubs & Socs event in the PE Hall on the 25th of September. Current students visited the stand in the afternoon while parents and incoming students had the opportunity to visit during the Open Night. We decorated the stand with posters, flags and information to reflect the work of the Inclusion Committee and Schools of Sanctuary.

Stand Up Week 2025:
- LGBTQ+ Stand Up Week will be marked in our school from the 3-7th November. We will work with the Wellbeing Committee this year as we plan our celebrations. There are many plans being made which will be finalised at our next meeting. Ideas include a rainbow bake sale, face painting, and pride songs to be played on the intercom. It was also suggested that students could be taught about the history of the LGBTQ movement. The school will be decorated with photos and flags and our inspirational wall will showcase LGBTQ+ role models.
- We are still looking for a member of our school community to be interviewed for our school newsletter ‘Diverse Voices’. Please let us know if you are interested.
- If you would like to take part in Stand-Up Week, please email michellejordan@loretowexford.com.
Multicultural Week 2025:
- Multicultural Week will be celebrated this year on the week beginning Monday 2nd March. The group was excited to organise the Fashion Show and Stands again this year.
Spotlight on issue of our Choice:
- During the last term, we organise an awareness raising campaign for a cause of our choice. This year we will focus on Neurodiversity.
Presentation from Caoimhe:
- Caoimhe Collins, TY delivered an excellent presentation to the group on her hopes to make our Sports Day more wheelchair friendly now that we have a number of wheelchair users in our school. Caoimhe will liaise with Ms. Jordan and Ms. Kennedy on this.
- Caoimhe also hopes to deliver a presentation to 1st years and TYs during the year where she explains the challenges facing wheelchair users.
New members are always welcome!

The girls represented the school wonderfully and were impeccably behaved throughout the visit.
