Hockey
Our school teams took on our long-standing rivals Loreto Kilkenny last week. We’re delighted to share that one of our first year teams secured a fantastic win, with Emily Redmond scoring two goals.
Our third year team battled hard in difficult weather conditions and were unlucky to lose, but Aisling Enright delivered a superb goal.
Well done to all players – great effort and teamwork throughout!

Congratulations to Jenna Delaney on winning the half time competition during the Ireland vs Belgium international hockey fixture at the Sport Ireland Campus.

Soccer
Our Minor soccer team are through to the last sixteen in the Leinster Schoolgirls Cup having beat Ard Scoil Rathangan 6-1. Well done to all involved.

Junior Student of the Month
Anna Isdell is out first year “Student of the Month” for November.

Aislinn Walsh (2.2) is our second year ‘Student of the Month’ for November.

Finally, congratulations also to Maria Gilbane, who received the third year “Student of the Month” award.

6th Year Wellbeing Day
Our sixth-year students enjoyed a fabulous, fun-filled day on Friday during our annual Wellbeing Day.
They took part in a wide range of activities including mindfulness with Ms L. Jordan and Ms A. Culleton, yoga with Ms Busher, art therapy with Ms Tyndall, hand scrubs, massage and nail art with Ms Eve Scallan, samba drumming with Mr Kieran Gallagher, and dance fitness with Mr Jonny Smith.
Mr McGinnity spoke to the students about the importance of balance and self-care, encouraging them to be kind and compassionate towards themselves as they complete their studies and exams. A huge thank you to all of the teachers and facilitators involved in making today such a success.

Christmas Market
Loreto Wexford proudly presents our annual Wexford Schools Christmas Market this Saturday, 13 December, from 11am to 2pm in aid of Wexford Women’s Refuge. The event will take place in Loreto Secondary School.

Numeracy Awareness Week
Last week marked the success of the inaugural Numeracy Awareness Week in Loreto — and by all accounts, it really added up to a fantastic event.
We began with the opening of the brand-new Numeracy section in the school library, where students are encouraged to whet their numeric appetites whenever they get the chance. It’s the perfect place to sum up your knowledge or calculate your next favourite read.
Throughout the week, each classroom door donned a creative display where teachers highlighted how they use maths in their subjects. From history to home economics, geography to music, it was great to see how numeracy really does factor into every corner of the curriculum.
Our 12 Days of Christmas Puzzle Competition also launched. We are now on Day 8, which means there are only four more puzzles to go before we count down to a winner in this festive mathematical challenge.
We also held our first Transition Year 1% Club Numeracy Quiz — based on the popular ITV show, but with a little extra value added. Congratulations to the winning team: Lauren Finn, Kate Jordan, Amy Kehoe, Hannah Larkin, Ruth Kelly and Eva Lennon, pictured below, who collected their prizes after the quiz. Their performance was truly on point — no rounding needed!
A huge thank you to the TY Numeracy Team, whose help throughout the week ensured every activity ran smoothly. Their support was absolutely integral — in fact, we couldn’t have functioned without them.
Our First Year Poster Competition proved equally competitive, with students designing posters showing how maths appears in everyday life. Well done to the winners Liza ILinyth, Viktoria Moseichuk, Ame Ayanda and Camila Tebbit, also pictured below, who collected their prizes today. Their creativity really exceeded all expectations.
We look forward to running another Numeracy Awareness Week around Easter time.
And remember: Numeracy is not just about numbers — it’s about making your world make sense!

TY Christmas Decorations Workshop
Yesterday afternoon, our Transition Year students took part in a Christmas decoration–making competition, and congratulations are in order for our winners. As you can see from the photographs, the standard of creativity was exceptional.
