Update on Halloween Fundraiser – report by Ms. Whelan

In the spirit of giving, Loreto staff and students held their annual Trick or Treat Fundraiser on Friday,  23 October.

Students and staff dressed up in their finest Halloween costumes and a great day was had by all. The atmosphere in the school was electric involving costumes of all sorts. We were entertained by witches, clowns, Mario and Luigi, snowmen and many more.

All donations were split between Temple Street Hospital and Wexford Women’s Refuge. The school community donated a substantial €1,455.00 which was shared by these two very deserving charities.

We are very proud of the great effort that was put in by everyone. Let’s break the record in 2021.

Loreto Parents’ Council

The Parents’ Council continue to meet each month, via Microsoft Teams. A Meeting Report, summarising all items discussed at each meeting, is available on this website. At Christmas, members of the Council would normally visit the school to distribute treats to the students and staff. As this is not possible this year, the Council have kindly contributed towards six beautiful hampers, one for each year group in the school. All students will be entered into the draw, due to take place on Monday, 22 December. The school expresses its thanks to all members of the Parents’ Council for their ongoing support and the time taken to prepare the hampers. The next meeting of the Council will take place remotely on Monday, 11 January at 18.30. New members are always welcome to join by e-mailing parentscouncil@loretowexford.com or deputymcginnity@loretowexford.com.

Christmas Week in Loreto

Despite the Covid restrictions, the annual 6th year Christmas Show will be broadcast to all class groups on Friday afternoon. Filming has taken place over the past few weeks and all are looking forward to what will be revealed on the day.

The Carol Service has also been recorded in a safe manner in the last week and will be shown to all class groups on Monday afternoon next. A link to the Carol Service will also be available on the school website and App from next week.

Tuesday morning will see Mr. Murphy’s Annual Quiz taking place but in a different manner to normal. Full details will be announced to students and staff in the coming days.

The school will close for the Christmas holiday from 12.00 on Tuesday, 22 December until 08.50 on Wednesday, 6 January 2021.

Wishing the joy of Christmas and the hope of the New Year to all members of the Loreto school community
