Cross Country:

It was another successful week for Loreto in Cross Country competition. We congratulate Mia Wright on taking home the silver medal in the Minor competition. Maria Coone also performed extremely well, securing the silver medal in the Senior race. This contributed to an overall third place-finish for the team. We congratulate all athletes for representing the school with such pride throughout the event.

Mathematics Inspection:

On Tuesday and Wednesday, 28 and 29 January, a DES inspection in the teaching and learning of Mathematics will be conducted in our school. The Inspector will visit classes and speak to students throughout the two days.

Mock Examinations:

A reminder that the timetables for the upcoming mock examinations can be found here. For parents/guardians of 3rd and 6th year students, please revisit the most recent letter to families for more information on these important examinations.

Hockey:

Hard luck to our Junior Cup team who lost out to Loreto, Kilkenny last Thursday, 23 January. While this result didn’t go our way, the Minor A hockey team progressed to the cup semi-final with a 2 – 1 victory over Presentation, Kilkenny.

There was success for two other hockey teams during the week. The 1st Year team defeated Coláiste Bríde, Carnew on a comfortable 2 – 0 scoreline while the Minor B team had a wonderful 5 – 0 victory over the same opposition.

Equestrian:

Our equestrian team continued their fine season at the most recent leg of the Interschools League, hosted by Bridgetown College. The three novice teams all featured in the final line up, securing 1st, 2nd and 5th with the open team also placing second. We thank all participants and their parents/guardians for bringing the students to the events.

1st Year Soccer:

There was disappointment for our 1st Year Soccer team following their 2 – 1 defeat to Coláiste Bríde, Enniscorthy. Despite the result, we know there is plenty of potential within the squad.

Meitheal Awards:

Congratulations to our Meitheal leaders as they received their certificates at an awards ceremony in The Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy. We are indebted to the Meitheal leaders for their hard work and support of our 1st Year students throughout the year. Well done to all!
