Parents’ Council and parental involvement in the school

Mr. O’ Shea will hold a meeting on Monday at 5.30 p.m. in the school with members of the Parents’ Council and any other Loreto parents who might wish to attend. The meeting will conclude by 6.45 p.m.

Put simply, the school wishes to see parents being more actively involved in the life and future development of Loreto, Wexford. This involvement can take several different forms ranging from participation in periodic meetings to assisting in the organisation of particular events. The school is very mindful of the many pressing demands on parents’ time and does not seek in any way to make unreasonable requests.

From next September, the school will have a senior management team of a principal and two deputy principals. This will allow us to be much more active in our support of a truly vibrant Parents’ Council. We will be very happy to have one of the team attend regular meetings of the Parents’ Council, along with a teaching staff representative, and to provide all necessary secretarial assistance to the Parents’ Council. We will seek to continue to work in close co-operation with the Parents’ Council whilst at the same time respecting the independence of the Council.

Agenda

  1. Introduction and welcomes
  2. Discussion of role of Parents’ Council
  3. Calendar of events for 2017/2018
  4. Current issues

We look forward to a good attendance of parents at this meeting.

Loreto Golf Competition

The fourth annual Loreto Golf Competition was held in Wexford Golf Club on Tuesday, 25 April. Students from five Loreto schools competed – Wexford, Dalkey, Foxrock, Mullingar and Kilkenny.

The sun was out for all the players who enjoyed an 18 hole stableford competition. It was a fabulous day where the players demonstrated quality golf on a wonderful course. We are looking forward to increasing numbers next year as there is a growing interest in the sport throughout the country.

Thanks to Wexford Golf Club and its staff for the continuous hospitality over that last four years.

Results:

1st:        Aislinn Smith, Dalkey, 44pts

2nd:       Aoife Mullen, Mullingar, 39pts

3rd:        Sophie Walsh, Foxrock, 34pts
