8 January 2016

The school extends its best wishes to all students, staff, parents/guardians for a very happy and healthy 2016.

The School Planning Group has completed a Teaching and Learning: School Evaluation Report (5th and 6th year students and parents), based on the findings of surveys conducted during the first term.

The full report is published in the school policies and self-evaluation section of our website – www.loretowexford.com.

The principal actions arising from the report will be as follows:

1. In consultation with the teaching staff, the Principal, and/or his nominee, will prepare a summary sheet on AFL. This will then be presented by him and or nominee at a special assembly with each year group in January 2016. Teachers will then reinforce this information in subsequent classes.
2. In an attempt to keep the student population informed of developments in teaching, learning and curriculum at national and school level, the Principal will arrange for an annual assembly for each year group to update students on such developments. The first such round of assemblies will take place in October 2016.
3. Parents will be informed of developments in teaching and learning by a combination of the following:
• Letters to families as issued by the Principal and posted on the school website
• An annual input for parents, organised by the Principal, to be held in the second term, beginning in Spring 2016, with a focus on developments in teaching, learning and curriculum at national and school level that impact upon their daughters

4. The Students’ and Prefects’ Councils, with support from the Principal and the relevant liaison teachers, will organise a structure whereby students can meet on an informal and convenient basis to discuss and debate the main news issues of the day. It is planned to commence this initiative in the second term of the 2015/2016 school year.
