“Going to College” Talk

Ms. Catríona Foley (Guidance Counsellor) addressed an audience of 6th year parents on Tuesday, 7 November 2017 on a wide range of issues facing students and their families as they begin to prepare for 3rd level education and life after the Leaving Certificate.

The detailed powerpoint presentation prepared by Ms. Foley is available by clicking here and is a very useful reference tool in the coming months.

Sports Update – compiled by Ms. Loraine Copithorne (P.E. teacher)

Athletics

Well done to the following 1st year athletes: Jane Sinnott, Flora Doran, Eimear Halpin and Eimer Love. All four girls recently competed in the Leinster Schools combined events indoor competition held in the National Indoor Arena, Dublin on 24 October 2017. The girls competed in five combined events: 60m hurdles, long jump, high jump, 800m and shot putt.

Hockey

The hockey season commenced with an away trip to Kilkenny College just before the midterm break. Three matches were up for grabs including Minor A, Minor B and Junior B. The Junior B girls were very unlucky to lose a very tight and evenly balanced game on a 1-0 scoreline. Minor A and Minor B teams were also unlucky in their respective matches. All players showcased great determination and team spirit, setting the way for a good season ahead.

Basketball

The Junior and Senior Girls travelled to Presentation School, Wexford for their respective league encounters. Both teams were unfortunate in their games. Huge positives can be taken from both performances as the girls focus towards upcoming games.

School Musical – “West Side Story”

Rehearsals are progressing very well for our upcoming joint production of “West Side Story” with St. Peter’s College under the direction of Alan Corcoran and Music teachers Fintan Kavanagh and Fintan Cleary.

The show will be staged in the Dún Mhuire Theatre on 4, 5, 6 and 7 December 2017 at 8.00 p.m. and tickets will be on sale in both schools in the coming weeks.

Christmas Class Tests

3rd, 5th and 6th year students will take their Christmas class tests on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
