Musical Launch

On Wednesday, 22 November, the cast and crew of The Music Man were joined by Councillor George Lawlor to officially launch our musical. As excitement builds towards the first performance, we ask all members of the school community to show their support by attending a performance. Further Success for Eve Donohue

We extend our congratulations to Eve Donohue (6th Year) on reaching the final of the 2023 Top Security Frank Maher Classical Music Awards, Ireland’s largest such competition for secondary schools. Lyric FM presenter Marty Whelan was master of ceremonies for an evening of outstanding teen musical talent at which Eve performed two pieces, ‘Catablile’ by composer Niccolo Paganini and ‘Danse Espagnole’ by Manuel de Falla. Eve was presented with a €300 bursary as were the other finalists.

The competition aims to showcase outstanding young musical talent in Irish schools and is open to sixth year post-primary students of strings, woodwind, brass and piano. With 38 entries, the highest number since the beginning of the Covid – 19 pandemic, reaching the final was a testament to Eve’s skills and she gave an excellent performance.

Environmental Awards

Following their participation in ‘The Rubbish Film Festival’ last year, 5th Year students Ruby Lambert, Grace Corrigan and Cara Kelly were recognised with an environmental award recently at a ceremony in the Riverside Hotel. Well done to all three students.

John Paul II Awards

The John Paul II awards are a faith-based leadership initiative. Recently, our students were presented with their medals by Bishop Ger Nash. The ceremony, hosted in Enniscorthy Cathedral, acknowledge the spirit of volunteerism shown by all the young people from across the diocese. Thanks to Ms. Lawler for attending on the night.
