Loreto Wexford’s u16 ‘B’ footballers took on Coláiste Bríde, Carnew in Carnew on Thursday, 19 January in the Leinster quarter final.

Loreto started the brighter and Kathlynn Gabbett-Kehoe was in brilliant form scoring 1-2 in the opening 5 minutes.

Loreto defended well but when Carnew were awarded a penalty in the 18th minute, they were right back in the game. The initial shot was saved by Zara Power but the centre forward made no mistake with the rebound.

Molly Doyle added a point after hard work by the Loreto forwards. Coláiste Bríde responded with a point to leave the score at 1-3 to 1-1 at the break.

The teams exchanged goals in the opening 5 minutes, which set us up for a very exciting second half.

Loreto worked very hard but just could not get the scores. Coláiste Bríde took their scores and outscored Loreto by 3-5 to 1-1 in the next 20 minutes.

Coláiste Bríde added another goal to seal the victory. Loreto did add a point through Kathlynn Gabbett Kehoe before the final whistle but it was too little too late.

Coláiste Bríde now advance to the Leinster semi-final v Presentation Kilkenny.
