Senior Hockey Cup Match – report by Sarah Jones (6^th year student)

Our 6^th year senior B team travelled to Enniscorthy last Wednesday, 29 January to begin our cup matches. The first match we played was against the Kilkenny College School. Our team was evenly matched against our opposition making for an entertaining and close game. In the beginning our back line was constantly under pressure and we struggled to maintain much possession of the ball. Fortunately, that changed in the second half as our team dominated most of the possession. We were given many opportunities to score and we were able to convert our chances into goals. Our forward line was exceptionally strong. The midfields did a lot of ball carrying and connected the whole pitch. Our back line successfully defended against two short corners. Our team were delighted. I felt we had some very good pieces of play. We won with a score of 2-1. Goals were scored by Heather O’Leary and Aoife Cullen.

This success was the beginning of our cup games and we are now moving into the semi-finals.  Well done to all players who trained hard for this match and a big thank you to Ms. Kennedy who has been such a consistent hockey coach all year. Special thanks are also due to Mr. Buckley for all his valued coaching and assistance with school hockey.

Young Voices of Wexford 2020 – Report by Ms. Walton

The Young Voices of Wexford concert took place in the County Hall on 30 January. This is a concert organised to showcase a sample of the singing talent in our local schools . Each school puts forward three acts to perform on the night. M.C. for the concert was Mr. George Lawlor, Mayor of Wexford.

This was a great opportunity for each student to perform to a large audience and they all thoroughly enjoyed the occasion. A huge congratulations to the five students who took part. These were:

• Iseult McKiernan (3^rd year) ,who sang a beautiful rendition of “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” from The Phantom of the Opera.
• Hannah Devereux (4^th year), who sang the well- known song “Out of My Dreams” from Oklahoma.
• Sasha O’ Brien-Phillips and Fern Blood (5^th years) who sang the popular song “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey, accompanied by Hannah Murphy (5^th year) on piano.
