Junk Kouture

Congratulations to Cora Finn, Chloe Goff & Roisin Wall for making it through to the Regional Finals of #JunkKouture with their incredible design, Farmyard Feminist! They will be competing on March 6th, at 6:30 PM in The Helix, showcasing their creativity on the big stage.

Multicultural Week Events 2025 

Students have been working hard to prepare for Multicultural Week 2025, which will begin on Monday 24th February when we return from midterm break. We look forward to decorating our school with the flags of our cultures, attending workshops and celebrating through food, sport, song, dance and chat. Please see below a table of events. Monday 24th 8.45-10.45:  Garda Anne Quirke will visit 1st year classes to teach students about the importance of human rights and showing respect to other cultures 
Monday 24th 8.45 – 10.05 TYs will attend a Jiu Jitsu workshop from Silverback Gym in the PE Hall 
Tuesday 25th 9.30- 1.05: Multicultural Stands & Fashion Show in the PE Hall.  (Students involved will be in the PE Hall all day) 1st years visit from 9.30-10.45, TYs visit from 11.05 – 12.25 Students from the Presentation, 1st years from St Mary’s New Ross, parents of the volunteers and local media representatives will also be in attendance 
Tuesday 25th 1.45- 3.45 Guest speaker Homayoon Shirzad in the PE Hall for all TYs and multicultural volunteers 
Thursday 27 9.25 – 1.05 Cricket Leinster with visit 1st & 2nd year students during PE class 
All week Haya Alkasem will visit 1st year classes to teach them about Syrian culture. Isha Amodu will visit 1st / TYs to teach them about South African culture and a traditional Xhosa dance Ariana O’ Callaghan, Grace O’ Leary & Erin Thomas will provide a cookery demo on a Russian dish to Home Ec classes (led by Ms. Byrne) 
All week Cultural music will be played over the intercom at the end of the day throughout the week. 
All week Teachers are invited to introduce multiculturalism to their classes during the week if time allows.  

Rugby

A huge congratulations to our Senior Rugby team on their impressive victory yesterday in the Leinster Schools Girls Senior Cup! Final Score: Loreto Wexford 53 – 26 St. Paul’s Monasterevin As reigning champions, the team now advances to the Semi-Final. Well done to all involved!

Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)

Upcoming parents’ workshop dealing with Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). This workshop will be delivered by staff from a number of secondary schools in Wexford town. It aims to help parents to identify the early signs of EBSA & how to respond.

Cross Country

Congratulations to our minor team who finished third in the team event in the Leinster cross country on Wednesday in the Phoenix Park.

Equestrian

Excellent results for the Loreto Wexford Equestrian Team over the weekend! Our novice teams secured first and third place, while our open team achieved a strong second-place finish in their competition. Congratulations to all who competed on the day!

Junior Cup Final

Commiserations to our Junior Hockey team who recently faced a tough Loreto Kilkenny side in the final. Despite a strong performance & determined effort, the team fell just short. A special thank you to our 3rd-year supporters for their enthusiasm & encouragement

Gender Minorities Speechwriting competition

We had two students, Maria Gilbane in 2.2 and Lily Flood’s (1.6)  represent the school at the UCD Library and Historial Society: Girls and Gender Minorities Speechwriting competition a few weeks ago. Maria Gilbane in 2.2 winning overall in the junior category.
