We were delighted to welcome Brigid Cullen and Nora Stafford from the WSPCA to the school last Friday. They spoke to the sixth year LCA class about the important work they do.

They also attended a presentation by representatives of Mr Murphy’s Mini Company class, who organised a cinema day for 1st Year students as part of their Community Action Project. The event raised €238, which will support the WSPCA in their invaluable work with animals.

Day 1 in Ghent

Border Hoppin has officially begun! Students spent the day exploring the city’s stunning streets before hopping on a river cruise to dive into the culture, history, and hidden stories of the area. Sunshine and unforgettable views—what a start to the trip!

Anseo i Loreto inniu táimid ag cur fáilte roimh an Samhradh. In keeping with Irish folklore traditions, stretching back thousands of years, students from Ms Shannon’s Transition Year class decorated our May Bush outside the school today to welcome Summer and to keep the fairies happy.

The Justice and Peace Committee have created a biophilic space. This area aims to promote a calm, peaceful and nature‑filled environment within the school. The space has already been used for interview backgrounds and has been noticed and appreciated by students as an area to relax, revise and eat lunch.

Congratulations to the ten Loreto hockey players who were part of the victorious minor team, winning the Leinster League on Sunday. They faced Glenanne in Loreto Wexford on Sunday afternoon.

A big congratulations to our three fifth-year students Ava Murphy (St. Anne’s Rathangan), Ciara Whelan (St. Brigid’s Blackwater) & Mollie Quirke (St. Martin’s) who won the All Ireland Minor ‘A’ Shield camogie final versus Waterford on Sunday last in Nowlan Park.

A great achievement by all involved and it is brilliant to see three of our students involved.

Well done girls!

Well done also to our first-year camogie team, who took part in today’s First-Year Camogie Blitz hosted by Presentation Kilkenny.

The girls showed fantastic skill and determination, progressing all the way to the Shield Final, where they were narrowly beaten by a strong Presentation Thurles side.

A brilliant day of camogie, teamwork, and fun was had by all—well done, girls!

Congratulations to the Minor, Junior and Intermediate 4×100m relay teams on their outstanding performances at the Southeast Schools Track and Field Competition in Carlow on Tuesday, where all three teams successfully qualified for their respective finals. Commendations also go to Sarah Dupuy and Louise Duggan for their participation and efforts in the under-16 long jump and shot put events.

Our Transition Year students travelled to SETU Carlow on Tuesday, where they received a guided tour of the campus and its facilities. They also attended a talk by past Loreto student Ms Alison Moore, who spoke about the courses, facilities, clubs and societies on offer. The students were very impressed with their visit.

Ms Skelton’s Transition Year Enterprise class recently visited Wexford General Hospital to distribute sweet treat care packages to staff as part of their “Caring for the Caring” community action project.

This initiative was a small gesture of appreciation for the incredible work carried out by healthcare staff every day. Well done to all involved and thank you to everyone who kindly donated treats to support this effort.

On Wednesday, our fifth-year students visited SETUCarlow, where they attended an informative talk from past Loreto student Ms Alison Moore. She provided valuable insight into the wide range of courses, facilities, clubs and societies, along with everything else the college has to offer.

Students also enjoyed a guided tour of the campus, where they explored the lecture theatres, gym and various other facilities.

Many thanks to Ms Alison Moore for her time and dedication in making the visit so engaging and informative.

Our Transition Year Technology & DCG students enjoyed a trip to and tour of local engineering company Kent Stainless based in Ardcavan on Wednesday.

Some great insight was gained on modern design and manufacturing processes used in industry which will help the girls as they look ahead to their Leaving Certificate studies. A presentation on apprenticeships available at the company was also given.

Thanks to Kent Stainless for their great welcome and for being so generous with their time!

Reminder to first, second and fifth year students: there are just three weeks left until the start of your summer exams. We hope your revision is going well.
