Start of Year Mass

After three years without a ceremony, the whole school community were able to gather in Clonard Church last Tuesday, 18 October 2022. We commend the students for their outstanding behaviour on the day and thank those who participated in the ceremony. We thank our Chaplain, Fr. Jim Fegan and our RE and Music departments for their contribution on the day. Finally, we are grateful to the warm welcome extended to us by the staff in Clonard Church.

Green School Committee

In an effort to improve our waste management, the Green School committee will be very active in the coming weeks. They will aim to promote recycling, the use of the correct bins in the school and encourage students to take responsibility for their own waste. The following initiatives will be put in place:

Prefects: Each Prefect will learn about recycling and will be asked to speak to their base class about it. The Prefects will also make a cleaning schedule so that two students each week will be responsible for litter, recycling and general cleanliness in their base room.

Wasteless Wednesdays: We are going to start a campaign after midterm where students are asked to bring their rubbish home on Wednesdays.

Plastic bottle collection: plastic bottles will be collected in separate bins on each floor, as students are starting an art project using these recycled bottles.

GP area: Members of the Green School Committee will be monitor these to ensure that waste is not being contaminated.

Our thanks to Ms. Culleton for overseeing the committee.

    School news in brief

    • Work on our new school at Pembroke Hill is progressing very well. Pile foundations are being worked on at present as well as site clearance. It is expected that foundations will be poured very soon after which it will not be long before the new school will be seen rising from the ground. Regular meetings are being held between the builders, project managers and the Board of Management.
