Parents’ Association Annual General Meeting (AGM) – by Mai Fanning (Chairperson)

The Loreto Parents’ Association AGM will take place in the General Purpose Area of the school on Monday, 24 September at 19.00.

The AGM is a chance to review the accounts from the previous year and an annual report of activities.  We are delighted to announce that Mr. Brendan Dennehy will speak on the topic of ‘Fatherhood and Wellbeing – A Guide to Happy Children’.

At the AGM we will be saying goodbye and thank you to Joanne Beaver, our Vice Chairperson and Mary O’Leary, our Secretary. In order that the Parents’ Council be representative of the whole school, we are looking for new members to join our committee.

The Council would also like to acknowledge and thank the outgoing parent representative on the Board of Management, Mr. Patrick Clancy, for his years of service.

We generally meet eight times a year, on the first Monday of the month, at 6.30 p.m. The meeting lasts no longer than one hour and is attended by a teachers’ representative and Deputy Principal Mr. John McGinnity.

Being a member of the Parents’ Council is a great way of getting an insight into how the school works and having a positive impact on the decision-making process within the school.  This is for the benefit of all students and forms an even closer relationship between the school and parents.

We hope that as many parents as possible will attend on Monday evening.

The agenda will be as follows:

  1. Chairpersons’ Welcome
  2. Treasurers’ Report
  3. Chairpersons’ Address
  4. New members/vacant positions
  5. Speaker – Mr. Brendan Dennehy
  6. Thanks and closing

Traffic Management

The attention of all parents is drawn to the accompanying photos of the new school site that clearly show designated bus bays and drop off zones. Traffic management at the close of school each day will be greatly facilitated by parents’ respecting  these designated areas and by not parking in a manner that causes a disruption to other road users.

The issue of a pedestrian crossing on the main road is the responsibility of Wexford County Council. The school liaises closely with council officials on all matters relating to traffic management and road safety.
