The Prefects’ Council is made up of two prefects from each year group, as follows:
1st year Orlaigh Lynam and Kayla Smith
2nd year Michelle Carthy and Alanna Fusciardi-Wallace
3rd year Aisling Gouldson and Beth Powell
4th year Faith Dempsey and Sally Shortle
5th year Sarah Sweetman and Roza Harrison
6th year Bethany Flynn and Clara Smith
The main functions of the council are:
• To ensure the smooth operation of the prefect system
• To continually seek to develop and support the role of the prefect system in consultation with staff and students
• To organise certain activities to increase the bonding of students both within and between year groups
• To organise the Cara system whereby 4th year prefects provide a peer support role to 2nd year students in a manner broadly similar to the Meitheal system for 1st year students
Mr. O’ Shea (Principal) meets with council members through the year.
The council is presently involved in easing the queues in the lunchroom, linking with the Green School Committee re: recycling bins and emphasising to fellow students the need for classroom cleanliness.
