Seminar on Anxiety in Adolescence
All parents/guardians are invited to attend a seminar by Peadar Maxwell, Senior Psychologist with the HSE, entitled ‘Understanding and responding to anxiety in adolescence’ on Monday, 12 November 2018 at 17.30 in the school. The venue for the seminar will be the Business/Commerce room on the 1st floor. There is no cost for attending this seminar.
This will be a valuable information seminar for all parents and we hope that as many as possible will be able to attend. There does not need to be any diagnosis or specific anxiety-related issue with your daughter in order for you to attend.

Open Morning for families
We have now entered week ten in our new school. Many snagging items associated with the building have been addressed but others remain and will be dealt with in the coming weeks. The overwhelming reaction to our new home has been extremely positive and, for this, we are most grateful.
We are now pleased to offer Loreto families the opportunity to visit the school for an informal walk around of the buildings and grounds from 10.00 to 12.30 on Saturday, 24 November 2018. Further details of this Open Morning will be provided nearer the date.
Junior Cycle Training
The school will be closed to students on two days this month – Friday, 16 November and Monday, 26 November – to facilitate inservice training for teachers relating to the new Junior Cycle.
“My Special Olympics” – report by Bridget Cowman, 6th year student
During my summer holidays I won three more medals for my Wexford Special 0lympics club at the Ireland games in Dublin. Now I have 35 medals altogether. I won my latest medals for Rhythmic Gymnastics. I won gold medals for ribbon, gold for hoops and sliver for clubs.
I stayed in the campus accommodation in NUI Maynooth with my chaperone Grace. We had lots of fun but I did not like getting up early in the morning. I made a new friend called Jennie O’Brien. It was Jennie’s first time to compete in the games. She won a gold medal and bronze medals.
A lot of people came to watch the Special Olympics Rhythmic Gymnastics competition this June. Everyone was smiling and cheering at the Opening Ceremony when we walked out to start the competition. I think they were amazed to watch our beautiful and elegant routines. I think people were excited to be there, it was all very exciting. The people liked watching the different routines for hoop, ribbon and clubs. They liked seeing our colourful and sparkly leotards. They might have enjoyed the music too, some of it was calm and some tunes had a quick rhythm.
