Ms O’ Gorman retires

After 24 years’ service to Loreto, Ms. Ann O’ Gorman taught her final Biology class this week. Having joined the school in 1994, Ms. O’ Gorman brought great energy and dedication to her work. As a teacher of Science, Biology and Chemistry, she guided thousands of Loreto students through their studies. Outside of the classroom, she successfully coached basketball, harnessing the potential of many past Loreto students. In recent years, she has coordinated the Meitheal and Cara programmes, helping to support 1st years students in their transition to secondary school.

As a school community, we thank Ann for her commitment, professionalism, and dedication to Loreto over such a long period of time. We wish her every blessing and good health in her retirement.

Basketball success

Congratulations to our senior basketball team on a strong victory in their match against Bridgetown this week, winning on a 62 to 22 score line. Coached by Ms. S Byrne and Ms. Skelton, the team will be looking to build on this strong team result in their second match.

Guidance Department

As our 6th years begin to look at their future options, our Guidance Department have been working hard to provide them with as much support as possible. Over the past week, representatives from DCU and Wexford/Waterford ETB spoke to the students about some college and apprenticeship options. Ms. Foley, Ms. Kelly and Mr. O’ Sullivan will be available to assist the girls throughout the year.

School News

Our 6th year exam PE classes visited the Sport Ireland Campus in Dublin this week. As part of their course, they were put through a variety of fitness tests. Despite an intense day, the students, and their teachers, Mr. Crowdle and Ms. Mullen, enjoyed the opportunity to visit this wonderful facility.
