School re-opening

It was great to welcome all students back to school this week for the first time since last December. We hope that the seven weeks ahead will be as safe and happy as possible for all students and staff.

Oven Door Catering

Oven Door will be conducting a trial run next week of tap-and-go cashless payments. Should the  trial go well, this facility will be introduced on a permanent basis from September next. Cash payments will continue to be accepted as normal.

The lunch menus for next week may be viewed by clicking here.

Transition Year Sports Day

Beautiful sunshine created a warm and welcome backdrop to this week’s Sports Day for 150 TY students. Lovely picnics were enjoyed by all on the GAA pitch and the ice cream van did great business when it arrived in the afternoon.

Board of Management

The next meeting of the Board of Management takes place on Tuesday, 20 April. An agreed report of each Board meeting is placed on the school website under the Administration tab.

Greetings from our German Language Assistant, Madlen Haugk

Hi Loreto!

I worked as the German language assistant in Loreto Secondary School for half a year, but all good things must come to an end. I´m so grateful that I´ve been part of a team of kind colleagues who encouraged and supported me.

Although times weren´t normal due to COVID, the positive school atmosphere, friendly colleagues and amazing students have made my stay in Ireland absolutely wonderful. The best part of my time in Loreto was the cultural exchange. I really enjoyed being part of the #thinklanguages day for TYs or teaching the girls traditions, festivals and lifestyle in Germany and having fun together. But I also learned a lot in exchange about the Irish culture and how to deal with Online Teaching. I want to thank all the colleagues, students and staff members for their amazing work and especially a huge thanks to the German teachers. I will hopefully see all of you again soon. To all the girls learning German, I hope I could give you an insight into German culture and you keep going learning German, because it is much more than just difficult grammar. Maybe you´ll remember some German songs and hopefully you get the chance to visit Germany someday. I wish all the 6th years good luck for your coming written exams and all the best for your bright future.

Danke und liebe Grüße aus Deutschland!

Madlen Haugk
