- School of Sanctuary Zoom
The class of 2.2 joined the recent School of Sanctuary Zoom meeting under the guidance of their teacher Mr. P Kavanagh. The meeting was made up of School of Sanctuary ambassadors who shared their stories of being asylum seekers, migrants or refugees. The meeting was very informative, and the Inclusion Committee would like to thank Mr Kavanagh for facilitating it.
- School of Sanctuary Creative Arts Competition:
Ms Jordan confirmed that the entries from last year are going forward to this year’s competition as it was postponed last term. Students have completed beautiful artwork and poetry focusing on the theme of equality and showing racism the red card. Best of luck to all the entries!
Please support Loreto’s ‘Spill the Tea’ bake off in aid of ‘Belong To’ on Friday 8/11/24. Prizes to be awarded!

TY Pumpkin Carving:
Yesterday our Transition Year students embraced the Halloween spirit with a fun afternoon of pumpkin carving! Creativity was on display as they crafted some fantastic designs.

Home Economics 1st years
Our first years had a spook-tacular time in Home Economics today, baking some fang-tastic Halloween goodies! From ghostly cupcakes to pumpkin treats, they really brought the boo-tiful flavors to life. A big shoutout to our little ghouls for their hard work!

Sports Updates:
- Congratulations to all first years who competed in a soccer blitz on Thursday, 24 October. The girls defeated Presentation, Wexford on a 4 – 1 scoreline.

- Well done to Pippa Goff and Jessica Bergin on their outstanding handball success last weekend. The girls won the Leinster schools first-year doubles title, marking our first handball success. Congratulations also to Kitty Roche who made it to the semi-final stage, losing out to a counterpart from Carlow.
- Hard luck to our hockey teams as they lost out to strong Loreto, Kilkenny teams during the week. Despite the results, there were plenty of positive performances.
- Our equestrian teams continue to do well. The Novice teams placed 3rd and 6th with the school winning best turned-out prize. The Open team narrowly missed out on the placings. Well done to all on strong individual performances.
Dates to Note:
- Monday, 4 November – Parents’ Council meeting at 18.30
- Tuesday, 5 November – School closed due to staff in-service.
As we end this term, I wish all staff, students and parents a pleasant Halloween break.
