BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition 

Our names are Amy Richards, Rebecca Thomas and Sadhbh Cullinane, all from Transition Year.

We are delighted to have been selected to represent our school in the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition in January 2017.

Mid-term break 

The school will close this evening for a well-earned mid-term break.

Industrial action

As of today, members of the Association of Secondary Teachers, Ireland (ASTI) have indicated that they will be on strike on Thursday, 27 October 2017 as they are in dispute at a national level with the Department of Education and Skills. Should this strike proceed, the school will be closed to students on the day in question.

Students’ Council

The Students’ Council is very active already this year. Members have had their “bonding day” as well as a series of meetings with the liaison teacher, Ms. J. Byrne. They will shortly participate in the annual Comhairle na nÓg and will travel to Dublin next week to join council members from other Loreto schools nationwide in a special training day.

• All 1^st year parents are invited to a Cheese and Wine Reception in the school at 7.00 p.m. on Tuesday, 11 October organised by the Parents’ Council. This informal gathering gives parents the opportunity to meet each other and to get to know some members of the Parents’ Council.

• Work on our new school at Pembroke Hill is progressing very well. Pile foundations are being worked on at present as well as site clearance. It is expected that foundations will be poured very soon after which it will not be long before the new school will be seen rising from the ground. Regular meetings are being held between the builders, project managers and the Board of Management.
