Calamity Jane

As if a pandemic was not enough to deal with, along came Storm Barra to force the cancellation of the opening night’s performance last Tuesday.

Determined to avoid a real-life calamity, the cast, production team and both schools dug deep at the last minute to come up with a revised programme of shows for the week – Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings, along with a matinee on Saturday. None of this would have been possible without the tremendous support and flexibility of the National Opera House staff and all others who are helping the production in any way – orchestra, side stage and backstage crews, lighting, sound, props, make-up etc.

Reaction to the eventual opening night on Wednesday was wonderfully positive, with many people remarking upon the emotion of the event after all the worries caused by Covid.

We wish everyone associated with the show a smooth and memorable experience over the coming days.

Tickets may be booked online at www.nationaloperahouse.ie or by calling 053-912400.
